Egyptian Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is close to renewing his contract with Liverpool, which expires next summer. According to the British media, Liverpool has made an official offer to Salah to renew his contract with the team.
It is important to note that this does not mean that the two parties have reached an agreement, and negotiations are expected to take some time. Liverpool also made offers to the duo Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander Arnold.
Salah revealed that he was going through a state of frustration, due to not receiving an offer to renew.
It is reported that Rami Abbas, Salah's agent, informed Liverpool at the beginning of the negotiations that the player wanted to renew for 3 years, while the club offered a one-year contract.
Money was not at the core of the issue as Mo Salah is and will remain the highest paid player in Liverpool, the crisis was about the duration of the contract. It is reported that a deal to meet halfway and settle for 2 years has been accepted by both parties.
Salah is the Premier League's top scorer with 13 goals, level with Manchester City's Erling Haaland. Chelsea's Cole Palmer is behind the sublime duo, with 11 goals to his name.
