Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that his team's Brazilian international goalkeeper Alisson Becker has recovered and is ready to play matches, ahead of the Reds' UEFA Champions League clash with Girona of Spain.
The Brazilian goalkeeper travelled with the Liverpool delegation to Spain to play against Girona, after being absent from the stadiums since suffering a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace in early October.
Slot said in statements reported by the Liverpool website on the eve of the Reds' clash with Girona scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, in the sixth round of the Champions League stage: "Alisson is in good shape and it is great to have him back in the squad, but if you see how his replacement (Caoimhin Kelleher) performed, he will find it difficult to provide better levels. We expect him to be at the same level with room for improvement."
The Dutch coach added: "We have two great goalkeepers, but Alisson has been amazing with the team for years and we expect him to continue his brilliance in the coming weeks and months."
Slot will have to make at least one change to the line-up that played in last weekend's 3-3 draw at Newcastle, with Alexis Mac Allister suspended, while Alisson looks set to feature at the expense of Kelleher. Liverpool are top of the Champions League standings with 15 points, having won all five of their games so far, while Girona are 30th with three points.
