Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has separated from his wife Cristina Serra after a 30-year relationship. A few days ago, the Spanish media broke the news by announcing Guardiola's separation from his wife, while the secret behind this decision was revealed by journalists Lorena Vazquez and Lara Fa via a podcast, as they confirmed that the separation took place at Serra's request, after she learned of her husband's decision to renew his contract with Manchester City last November until 2027, and decided to separate from him in December 2024.
The two journalists claimed: "Serra accused Pep of focusing excessively on his professional project, and his decision to renew the contract prompted her to say (enough of this), as it was the straw that broke the camel's back and caused what was cracked in that marriage to break."
However, Lorena Vazquez and Lara Fa explained that based on the couple's friends, this may not be a final divorce, but rather a separation, and they hope to reconcile in the future or perhaps when Pep leaves football and returns to Barcelona.
Pep's contract with Manchester City was due to expire at the end of the season, but he agreed terms for a two-year extension in November. He said at the time that he could not leave the club after suffering four consecutive defeats for the first time in his coaching career. Guardiola has been in charge of Manchester City since 2016, and the team is currently sixth in the Premier League, with 35 points.
