Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid star, responded to Manchester City fans with a cryptic tweet posted on X after successfully qualifying for the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.
Real succeeded in qualifying for the round of 16 of the Champions League yesterday, Wednesday, against the Citizens with a score of (3-1), at the "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium in the second leg of the play-off qualifying for the aforementioned round, after also winning the first leg at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester with three goals to two.
Immediately after the end of the match, Vinicius went to the locker room, took his phone and posted a tweet on his account on the "X" platform containing three words: "Okay, okay, okay", along with an emoji indicating crying.
Manchester City fans considered the message as a response to the banner that appeared during the two matches.
City fans decided to mock Vinicius, so in the first leg they raised a banner bearing a picture of their star Rodri kissing the Golden Ball he won last year, beating Vinicius, with the phrase "Stop crying your heart out", in a message that was initially understood to be for Vinicius, but it later turned out that it was directed at Florentino Perez, the president of the club, after he boycotted the "France Football" ceremony after learning of his player's loss.
But this does not negate the amount of chants against Vinicius that he was subjected to during the match at the time at the Etihad Stadium, including mocking his loss of the Golden Ball.
The draw for the round of 16 of the 2024-2025 Champions League is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Friday, after the official end of the play-off competitions yesterday, Wednesday.
Real Madrid is expected to find out its opponent, between Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.
