Lionel Messi’s personal bodyguard, Yassine Cheuko, has been prohibited from patrolling the touchline during Inter Miami games, as Major League Soccer (MLS) takes full control of matchday security.
Cheuko, a former Navy SEAL, gained widespread attention after viral social media clips showed him closely monitoring the crowd and swiftly intervening to prevent pitch invaders from approaching the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Under the new MLS regulations, Cheuko will only be allowed access to the locker room and designated mixed zones.
“They no longer allow me on the field,” he told Spanish media.
“I spent seven years in Europe, working in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, and only six people managed to invade the pitch. Since arriving in the U.S., in just 20 months, there have already been 16 incidents. There’s a serious problem here—let me help Messi.”
