A photoshoot for Egyptian Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has sparked speculation about his future at the English club, especially as his contract expires in the summer of 2025 without any definitive developments regarding a renewal. Liverpool fans are anxiously awaiting the fate of their Egyptian star, who has etched his name in golden letters in the club's history since joining from Roma in 2017.
However, the new controversy came after a photoshoot for Salah at the team's training headquarters on Wednesday. He appeared in full Liverpool training gear, raising questions among fans about whether the photoshoot was related to the announcement of his contract extension with the club.
The British newspaper "Daily Mail" highlighted the incident, noting that the photoshoot sparked mockery and surprise from fans. One fan wrote: "I hope this video or photos are part of Salah's contract extension announcement," while another commented: "These photos are circulating now... Liverpool's media team seems to be showing Salah happy, but does this mean he'll stay at Anfield?"
One fan jokingly added: "There will definitely be a new contract, because we won't waste the club's marketing budget for nothing!"
Despite the speculation, the Daily Mail confirmed that the photoshoot was merely part of the routine promotional activities undertaken by Premier League players and was unrelated to any move to extend Salah's contract.
During his career with the Reds, Salah scored 243 goals in 392 appearances, winning eight trophies, including the Champions League and the Premier League.
This season, Salah has scored 32 goals and made 22 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
