Manchester Derby ends in a goalless draw

7 April 2025

A goalless draw was the result of the Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City on Sunday, in the 31st round of the English Premier League. Both teams failed to score as their stars  squandered opportunities throughout the 90 minutes, leaving each team with just one point each.

While Manchester City dropped two valuable points in their fight to secure a top-four spot in the competition, Manchester United also dropped two points, which they needed to improve their disappointing league position.

With this result, Manchester City temporarily remained in fifth place until the end of the round with 52 points, one point behind fourth-place Chelsea.

In contrast, Manchester United, who failed to win for the second consecutive match in the tournament, remained in thirteenth place with 38 points.

It's worth noting that the match marked the final derby appearance for veteran Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City's star player, who recently announced his departure from the Sky Blues at the end of the current season.
