English press reports have revealed new developments regarding Mohamed Salah's fate with his club, Liverpool, particularly given the lack of an agreement to renew his contract. After months of uncertainty surrounding Salah's position and that of his teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts all expire in the summer of 2025, exciting developments in the negotiations have been revealed.
Fabrizio Romano posted on his X account: "Mohamed Salah is close to concluding a new deal with Liverpool."
He added, "The agreement is now in its final stages." He concluded, "The club is confident it will be completed soon, as is Virgil van Dijk, who recently confirmed positive progress. Salah and Liverpool are expected to continue together."
Despite reports linking Salah with a possible move to the Saudi League, Romano confirmed that all indications now point toward him staying, indicating that Liverpool is confident the deal will be completed within a short period. The same applies to Van Dijk, who is also close to signing a new contract.
Liverpool officials believe that extending the contracts of Salah and Van Dijk will represent a vital step towards building a new competitive project under Dutch manager Arne Slot, as part of the club's ambitions to return to the podium next season.
Mohamed Salah has participated in 45 matches in all competitions for Liverpool this season, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists.
