Mbappé, who was in the stands, showed a frenzied reaction, his face beaming with joy as if he had never celebrated before. Mbappé missed the match due to suspension after being sent off against Alaves, and his injury against Arsenal in the Champions League.
Real Madrid's tally rose to 69 points, four points behind leaders Barcelona, while Athletic Bilbao remained in fourth place with 57 points.
