Real Madrid Announces Signing of Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid announced the signing of Spaniard Xabi Alonso on Sunday, replacing Italian Carlo Ancelotti, who left to coach the Brazilian national team. Real Madrid announced in an official statement: "Real Madrid announces that Xabi Alonso will be the team's coach for three seasons, from June 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028."

The statement added: "Xabi Alonso is one of the legends of Real Madrid and world football. He played 236 official matches between 2009 and 2014, during which time he won six titles, including the tenth European Cup, the European Super Cup, La Liga, two Copa del Rey titles, and the Spanish Super Cup once." Alonso will be officially presented tomorrow, Monday, May 26, at Real Madrid City, in the presence of President Florentino Pérez, followed by a press conference to address the media.

Alonso is a legend of the Spanish national team, having won the 2010 World Cup and the European Championship twice, in 2008 and 2012, and has played 113 international matches.
