Brazilian club Botafogo announced on Tuesday the appointment of Italian Davide Ancelotti, son of Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti, as the team's new coach. Davide Ancelotti, 35, signed a one-year contract with Botafogo, marking his first experience as a coach. This comes after the dismissal of Renato Paiva following the team's elimination from the 2025 Club World Cup in the round of 16.
Davide has worked with his father for over ten years, including at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and Real Madrid, and is also part of the Brazil national team's coaching staff under his father.
The Brazilian Football Confederation said in a statement that Davide's contract with Botafogo allows him to continue working with his father on the Brazilian national team, less than a year before the start of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Botafogo is defending the Copa do Brasil and Copa Libertadores titles, and Botafogo owner John Textor recently said he wants his team to play more offensively.
Davide is expected to make his Botafogo debut against Vasco da Gama in the Brazilian league next Saturday.
