Lamine Yamal, the Barcelona and Spain national team young prodigy, has sparked widespread controversy in recent days after celebrating his birthday and inviting people with dwarfism as part of the entertainment, according to Spanish press reports. A person with dwarfism at Yamal's party told Spanish media: "I disagree with the association that wants to sue Lamine Yamal. They seek to humiliate people with dwarfism."
He added: "For several years, this association has been harming us and wants to ban a job that we all enjoy." These statements follow a statement issued by the Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Types of Dwarfism in Spain, which deemed the event "an insult and an offensive scene" and announced its intention to take legal and social action against Lamine.
The player had held a private party in Barcelona attended by a number of his close friends and under strict measures that included banning the use of mobile phones. However, photos leaked and sparked widespread controversy on social media.
