Spanish media reports revealed that Real Madrid has decided to halt negotiations with Brazilian star Vinicius Junior regarding a contract extension due to demands the club deemed "unacceptable."
Vinicius's current contract with the club expires in the summer of 2027, while there were attempts to renew it until 2030, but these efforts recently stalled.
According to reports, Vinicius has requested a salary increase of more than €20 million per year, in addition to a signing-on bonus. He believes his salary is not commensurate with his position within the team, especially after the club signed Kylian Mbappé, who received additional financial benefits after arriving for free.
However, reports claim that Real Madrid's management, led by Florentino Perez, considered these demands an attempt at "blackmail" to keep the player and refused to comply with them in order to maintain the club's salary cap.
The newspapers reported that Real Madrid's management has begun seriously considering selling either Vinicius or Rodrygo this summer to ease financial burdens and offset the club's investments in new signings, most notably:
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huysen, Alvaro Carreras, and Franco Mastrantuono.
