Manchester United joins race for Gyokeres, outbids Arsenal!

22 July 2025

Manchester United is keen to sign Victor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon and has made a higher bid than Arsenal, which is also negotiating to sign the Swedish striker.

Portuguese media reports that the Gyokeres deal may undergo a radical change at the last minute, and that Manchester United is close to winning it, taking advantage of the stalled negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon.

Reports claim that the financial offer submitted by Manchester United far exceeds that offered by Arsenal for Gyokeres, as the London club negotiated a fee ranging between 70 and 80 million euros.

It is indicated that the Swedish striker Gjokeres' desire is clear and strong, and is to play for Arsenal and participate with them in the Champions League.

However, at this stage, a reunion between Gyokeres and his former coach, Ruben Amorim, the current Manchester United manager and former Sporting Lisbon manager, seems a possible option, but it is difficult given the Swedish player's desire to wear the Arsenal shirt.

The deal for Gjokeres' transfer to Arsenal is threatened with failure due to Lisbon's insistence on its financial demands (€80 million) for the Swedish striker.

It is noted that Arsenal has also failed to make a higher financial offer in the last six days, and it appears unlikely they will be able to reach the amounts set by the Portuguese club.

Gyokeres' family has reportedly also begun to feel that he is increasingly distant from a move to Arsenal.
