Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi, the right-back for Paris Saint-Germain, said he's going through a crisis he wouldn't wish on anyone.
Hakimi spoke about the uproar surrounding his accusation of sexual assault against a woman, saying, "My circle of close friends has become so small that I no longer allow anyone into my life." He added on Canal Plus, "No one has ever hurt me like this. I've been through a very difficult situation, and it's still going on."
The Moroccan international continued, "My children are still young; they don't have access to the internet and can't read, but one day they will know and read what has been said about me. It's a crisis I wouldn't wish on anyone."
He noted, "We've made good progress thanks to the police work, and I feel at peace now. I hope the truth will come out soon."
Achraf Hakimi concluded, "Many people seek to exploit football stars. If your inner circle isn't good, any player will be exposed to such crises and difficult situations."
Hakimi, 26, has been facing this accusation since March 2023, when a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her at his home in late February of that year while he was away from a match.
French press reports subsequently indicated that the Moroccan star faces a 15-year prison sentence if convicted.
