Salah leads Egypt's squad for World Cup qualifiers

Egypt coach Hossam Hassan announced the squad for the matches against Djibouti and Guinea-Bissau, in the ninth and tenth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The matches will be held on October 8 and 12.

The Egyptian Football Association's media center announced on Sunday that the squad includes

Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, Mohamed Sobhi, and Abdel Aziz El-Balaouty in goal,

alongside Mohamed Hany, Ahmed Eid, Rami Rabia, Khaled Sobhi, Yasser Ibrahim, Amr El-Gazzar, Hossam Abdel-Majeed, Mohamed Hamdy, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Marwan Attia, Hamdy Fathy, Mohand Lasheen, Mahmoud Saber, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Mahmoud Trezeguet, Ibrahim Adel, Mostafa Fathy, Mohamed Salah, Mostafa Mohamed, and Osama Faisal.

Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of the Egyptian national team, revealed that there were more than one name in the technical staff’s calculations, but injuries prevented them from joining, led by Omar Marmoush, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, Mohamed Shehata, Nabil Emad Dunga, Imam Ashour, Salah Mohsen, and Mahmoud Abdel Hafeez Zlaka. The Egyptian national team leads Group A with 20 points, five points ahead of Burkina Faso, while Djibouti occupies the sixth and last place with only one point, five points behind Ethiopia in fifth place, while Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau occupy the third and fourth places.
