Slot defends Mohamed Salah following Chelsea loss

Liverpool manager Arne Slot strongly defended Egyptian star Mohamed Salah after Saturday's match against Chelsea in the English Premier League. Stamford Bridge hosted the match between Liverpool and Chelsea in the seventh round of the English Premier League, and the Reds suffered a crushing defeat to Chelsea, 2-1, in a match in which Mohamed Salah played the entire match but was unable to do anything.

In a press conference following the Reds' defeat to Chelsea, Slot was asked whether the team was missing Mohamed Salah's decisive touch.

He said: "I think today against Chelsea he had many opportunities to do what he often does, but he's a human being, and not every opportunity he gets is always a goal." He continued: "What I like is that he has been in a position he would have liked to be in many times, and I would like him to be in it too. He has proven throughout his career and since I've been here that he can score goals."

Regarding the on-field relationship between the Egyptian star and new signing Alexander Isak, Slot said, "The more they play together, the more they bond. I think you saw that in the second half."

Salah was subjected to heavy criticism from Liverpool fans after the loss to Chelsea.

Liverpool failed to recover from their defeat in the previous round against Crystal Palace, slumping to 15 points and dropping to second place in the table, while Chelsea climbed to sixth place with 11 points.
