Kane ‘Fully Committed’ to Bayern as Premier League Return Looks Less Likely

Harry Kane has signalled he is open to extending his stay at Bayern Munich beyond 2027, admitting that his once-strong desire to return to the Premier League has faded after two successful seasons in Germany.

The 32-year-old striker joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 and has since enjoyed a prolific spell, scoring 103 goals in 106 appearances across all competitions and helping the club win both the Bundesliga and the German Super Cup.

Such performances have inevitably sparked speculation over his future, with reports suggesting a €67 million (£57.6m) release clause exists in his contract. Yet Kane now appears increasingly settled in Bavaria.

“I could definitely see that [extending my contract],” he told British media. “I said recently that we haven’t had those conversations yet, but if they were to happen, I’d be open to them.

“It depends on how the next year or so unfolds and what we achieve together. But right now, we’re in a fantastic place, and I’m not thinking about anything else.”

Premier League Return Less Certain

Before leaving Tottenham, Kane frequently spoke about his ambition to return to the Premier League, where he remains the second-highest goalscorer in history with 213 goals, trailing Alan Shearer’s record of 260.

Last month, Spurs manager Thomas Frank echoed the sentiments of many English fans by saying they would welcome Kane’s return. But the striker admits that possibility is now far less certain than when he first left.

“If you’d asked me when I first came to Bayern, I’d have said for sure I’d come back,” Kane said. “Now, after a couple of years, that desire has probably gone down a little bit — though I wouldn’t say I’d never return.

“One thing I’ve learned in my career is that opportunities and timing can change everything. But as I said, right now I’m fully all in with Bayern.”

Focus on Club and Country

Kane remains a pivotal figure for both club and country. As Bayern captain, he continues to spearhead the club’s domestic and European ambitions. On the international stage, he is set to lead England in a friendly against Wales at Wembley on Thursday before travelling to Riga for a World Cup qualifier against Latvia on 14 October.

For now, Kane’s focus is firmly on Bayern’s present and future. While the door to a Premier League return remains ajar, his comments suggest that the chapter he once considered inevitable may not be written at all — especially if success in Germany continues to grow.
