Real Madrid back after Rodri with a huge deal

7 October 2025

Reports out of Spain revealed Real Madrid is planning a huge offer worth around £130 million to sign Spanish midfielder Rodri, Manchester City's star midfielder.

Rodri, 29, who was born in Madrid, joined Manchester City in 2019 from Atletico Madrid and is under contract with the English team until 2027. This has led to interest from clubs like Real Madrid, who are hoping to conclude a deal next summer.

According to reports Real Madrid has earmarked £130 million to sign Rodri and is seeking to exploit the player's current situation, having missed the entirety of last season due to injury. He suffered a new setback after suffering a hamstring injury during Manchester City's last match against Brentford (1-0).

However, Manchester City has no intention of selling its playmaker Rodri to Real Madrid at any price. Although the English club's management and Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola, are committed to the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, there are concerns within the club that Rodri could be tempted by the idea of returning to Spain to wear the Real Madrid shirt in the next phase.

Rodri has lived in England since 2019, and the Madrid-born player bid farewell to his homeland at that time when he severed ties with Atlético Madrid.

It is worth noting that Rodri, 29, was named the best player in the world in 2024 after helping Manchester City win the Premier League title and his country win the European Championship.
