English star Harry Kane has confirmed that he wants to extend his contract with Bayern Munich, which expires in 2027, indicating that his desire to return to the Premier League has diminished, but the possibility remains. Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich in 2023 from his boyhood club, Tottenham Hotspur, and has since scored 103 goals in 106 appearances for the Bavarian giants in all competitions, winning the German Bundesliga and the German Super Cup, in addition to setting a series of records.
Kane's brilliance has sparked speculation about his future, with the 32-year-old English striker's release clause reportedly set at around $78 million.
Asked about a contract extension, Kane told British media: "I definitely see it. I was honest a couple of weeks ago that I haven't had any talks with Bayern Munich yet, but if those things come up, I'd be willing to talk and have frank discussions. Obviously, it depends on how next year goes or what we achieve together."
He added: "At the moment, I would say we're in a great moment and I'm not thinking about anything else."
Last month, Tottenham manager Thomas Frank said many fans would love to see Kane return to the Premier League, where he is the club's second-highest goalscorer of all time with 213 goals – 47 behind legendary Alan Shearer.
Kane explained: "As far as the Premier League is concerned, I don't know. If you had asked me when I left for Bayern, I would have said definitely I would return. After two years there, maybe I could say my desire to return has diminished a little, but I wouldn't say I'll never return."
"What I've learned in my career is that opportunities and timing change, and things happen in their own time. Going back to where I started with Bayern, I'm now fully with Bayern," he said. Harry Kane is preparing with the England national team to face Wales at Wembley Stadium next Thursday, before heading to Riga to face Latvia in a World Cup qualifier next Tuesday.
