FIFA responds to at Trump's claims regarding moving 2026 World Cup matches

16 October

FIFA has commented on US President Donald Trump's remarks, in which he suggested the possibility of moving some 2026 World Cup matches from Boston to other cities within the United States.

Sky News reported that FIFA confirmed that Trump has the right to determine which cities he deems safe to host matches, while expressing confidence that all 16 cities designated to host the tournament will be fully prepared for the success of the global event.

Trump had previously stated that he might reconsider holding some matches in specific US cities if they were deemed unsafe, hinting at the possibility of moving them to cities more prepared in terms of security and organization.

The 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and will be the first edition in history to feature 48 teams instead of 32.
