Leicester City’s struggles continued as they fell 2–0 at home to relegation-threatened Blackburn Rovers, piling more pressure on manager Marti Cifuentes.
Two clinical finishes from Andri Gudjohnsen-one in each half-secured back-to-back wins for Valerien Ismael’s side and condemned the Foxes to their third consecutive defeat.
Leicester thought they had taken the lead early on when Stephy Mavididi turned in Jannik Vestergaard’s goalbound header, but the winger was flagged offside, much to the frustration of home fans.
That frustration only grew when Gudjohnsen fired Blackburn ahead in the 20th minute, capitalising on a deflection from Boubakary Soumare to slot past Jakub Stolarczyk.
The visitors could have extended their lead before the break through Yuki Ohashi, but Stolarczyk made a fine save to keep Leicester in it.
However, the Foxes struggled to respond, wasting chances through Mavididi and Jordan James.
Blackburn punished their hosts again just after the hour mark as Ryan Alebiosu’s determined run and cross found Gudjohnsen, who calmly finished to seal the win.
The result means Rovers have now beaten two relegated Premier League clubs in consecutive weeks—Southampton and Leicester-and move up to 19th, just four points behind the Foxes.
Leicester, meanwhile, have collected only eight points from their last nine games, prompting loud boos and chants of “Marti, sort it out” from the King Power crowd.
By full-time, the home side were met with jeers of “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” as fans voiced their anger at another flat performance.
With promotion ambitions fading fast, pressure is mounting on Cifuentes to turn things around before Leicester’s season completely unravels.
