Nottingham Forest secured their first Premier League victory under Sean Dyche as they came from behind to beat relegation rivals Leeds United, moving to nine points in the table.
Leeds struck first when Brenden Aaronson found Lukas Nmecha, who drove a low shot into the bottom corner to give the visitors an early lead.
But Forest responded quickly. Ibrahim Sangare equalised after goalkeeper Lucas Perri parried Dan Ndoye’s effort straight into his path.
Forest then took the lead through captain Morgan Gibbs-White, who headed home from a cross by substitute Omari Hutchinson.
Elliot Anderson wrapped up the win late from the penalty spot, ensuring a deserved victory for Dyche’s side in what was a fairly scrappy game overall.
The win lifts Forest off the bottom, though they remain 19th, two points behind Leeds.
Dyche, who replaced Ange Postecoglou after just 39 days in charge, will hope this win sparks a turnaround.
Forest were only behind for 2 minutes and 17 seconds between Nmecha’s opener and Sangare’s equaliser, highlighting their resilience.
Captain Gibbs-White, who failed to secure a move to Tottenham in the summer, has now scored three goals under Dyche after failing to score under Postecoglou.
He left the pitch to a standing ovation, having faced earlier criticism from fans.
While not a vintage Forest performance, they created the better chances and looked more lively after Dyche made a triple substitution, introducing Hutchinson, who set up the second goal and won the penalty.
Anderson then converted his first Premier League penalty, sealing the victory.
Leeds will be frustrated to have lost the lead so quickly, failing to hold onto their advantage for even three minutes.
Despite battling hard, their performance lacked quality in the final third.
After Nmecha’s early goal, Leeds struggled to test Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, only forcing a save in the 78th minute.
Substitutes Daniel James and Dominic Calvert-Lewin threatened late on but could not find a breakthrough.
The defeat leaves Leeds just one point above the relegation zone, raising fresh concerns about their ability to secure Premier League survival.
