Inter Milan took full advantage of their rivals AC Milan and Napoli's slip-ups to jump to the top of Serie A after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Genoa on Sunday evening in Matchday 15. German defender Jan Piszczek opened the scoring for Inter in the sixth minute, and Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez added a second in the 38th minute. Portuguese forward Vitinha pulled one back for Genoa in the 68th minute.
Inter's rise to the top of the table was fueled by their rivals' slip-ups, as AC Milan drew 2-2 with Sassuolo earlier in the day, while Napoli lost 1-0 to Udinese.
Inter now have 33 points, one point ahead of second-placed AC Milan and two points ahead of third-placed Napoli.
Meanwhile, Genoa remain on 14 points in 16th place.
