Nottingham Forest have reportedly lodged a formal complaint with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) following their 2-1 Premier League defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, raising concerns over several key refereeing decisions.
According to British media, the club contacted PGMOL on Monday to request access to the VAR audio from the match, as they seek greater clarity around the decisions made during the game.
Forest head coach Sean Dyche was outspoken in his post-match assessment, arguing that Rayan Cherki’s 83rd-minute winning goal should have been ruled out. Dyche claimed that Morgan Gibbs-White was fouled in the build-up to the goal, an incident he believes warranted intervention from the officials.
Dyche also questioned the disciplinary decisions, suggesting that Manchester City defender Ruben Dias should have received a second yellow card for a challenge on Igor Jesus in the second half.
The defeat left Forest in 17th place in the Premier League table, one position above the relegation zone, further intensifying scrutiny over decisions that may have had a direct impact on the result. The club did not immediately respond to requests for comment outside normal UK business hours.
The complaint comes amid ongoing debate around the consistency and transparency of officiating and VAR use in the Premier League, particularly in matches with significant implications at both ends of the table.
