Harrison Reed struck a sensational equaliser deep into added time as Fulham snatched a dramatic 2-2 draw against Liverpool, moments after Cody Gakpo had appeared to win the game for the visitors.
Liverpool twice came from behind, first through Florian Wirtz and then via Gakpo’s stoppage-time finish from Jeremie Frimpong’s delivery.
But Reed had the final say, unleashing a stunning 30-yard effort into the top corner in the 97th minute to spark wild celebrations at Craven Cottage.
The result stretches Liverpool’s unbeaten run to nine matches, while Fulham remain undefeated in five league outings.
Fulham took the lead in the 18th minute through former Liverpool winger Harry Wilson.
Raul Jimenez produced a clever pass to release Wilson, who cut inside and drove a left-footed shot beyond Alisson. Although initially flagged offside, a VAR review confirmed Virgil van Dijk had played him onside.
Despite controlling possession, Liverpool struggled to create clear openings in the first half and failed to register a shot on target.
The absence of leading scorer Hugo Ekitike, sidelined with a minor hamstring issue, was evident as the visitors lacked a cutting edge.
Arne Slot’s side emerged with greater intensity after the break and were eventually rewarded just before the hour mark.
Conor Bradley burst forward and squared for Wirtz, who calmly finished past Bernd Leno.
Once again, VAR was required, but the German was ruled onside and the goal stood.
Fulham remained a threat, with Wilson rattling the crossbar in the 77th minute, and Liverpool thought they had sealed victory when substitute Gakpo forced the ball home in the 94th minute.
However, the drama was not over.
Reed collected possession from distance and produced an unstoppable strike into the top corner, scoring his first Premier League goal since April 2023 and ensuring a deserved share of the spoils.
Kick-off had been delayed by 15 minutes following a medical emergency involving a member of Fulham’s matchday staff, who was taken to hospital.
Fulham manager Marco Silva will be pleased with his side’s resilience and organisation, particularly in a first half where they limited Liverpool effectively.
For Slot, there were positives in the improved second-half display, but frustration at conceding so late will linger ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming clash with league leaders Arsenal.
