Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank is facing growing internal pressure, with senior figures at the club discussing whether his seven-month spell in charge should be brought to an early end.
Frank has struggled to make a convincing impact since arriving last summer, and BBC Sport understands that at least one member of Spurs’ executive leadership has recently pushed for serious consideration to be given to a managerial change.
While the club have publicly stood by the former Brentford boss, Saturday’s damaging home defeat by West Ham has intensified scrutiny.
Spurs now sit 14th in the Premier League after winning only seven of their 22 matches this season, and the hierarchy are debating whether to act now or allow Frank more time to reverse their fortunes.
Supporter unrest is already evident.
During the closing stages of the loss to West Ham, sections of the crowd aimed chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” at Frank, underlining how quickly confidence has eroded.
Appointed in June following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, Frank has overseen just one win in Tottenham’s last eight games.
Spurs have also been knocked out of both domestic cup competitions, further deepening the sense of stagnation.
European football offers little respite.
Tottenham currently sit 11th in the Champions League table and host Borussia Dortmund this week in a fixture that could define their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds - and potentially Frank’s future at the club.
