Brighton poised to reject Nottingham Forest’s £20m move for Ayari

Brighton are expected to turn down a £20m bid from Nottingham Forest for midfielder Yasin Ayari.

Forest, who are battling relegation, are keen to strengthen before the transfer window closes on Monday and have submitted an offer for the Sweden international. However, sources have indicated to BBC Sport that Brighton have no intention of accepting the proposal.

Ayari joined the Seagulls from AIK Stockholm in 2023 in a deal worth around £3.5m and has since established himself as a regular part of the squad. The 22-year-old has made 66 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals.

The midfielder has also gained experience through loan spells at Blackburn Rovers and Coventry City during his time in English football.

Forest have already bolstered their attacking options this month, with Italy international striker Lorenzo Lucca arriving on loan from Napoli.

The Midlands club are also exploring goalkeeping reinforcements, with Wolves’ Jose Sa under consideration after John Victor — who had been sharing duties with Matz Sels — was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
