Sesko’s Stoppage-Time Stunner Sends Manchester United Back into Top Four

Sesko’s Stoppage-Time Stunner Sends Manchester United Back into Top Four

Benjamin Sesko struck a dramatic winner deep into stoppage time as Manchester United claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford, making it three consecutive Premier League wins under Michael Carrick.

In a match preceded by a protest attended by an estimated 500–600 supporters, United appeared to be in full control after goals from Casemiro and Matheus Cunha either side of half-time put the hosts two goals clear.

But a chaotic finale turned the contest on its head before Sesko delivered a decisive late twist.

Raúl Jiménez reignited Fulham’s hopes five minutes from time, coolly firing a delayed penalty into the roof of the net after being fouled by Harry Maguire.

Moments later, Kevin seemed to have completed the comeback with a sensational strike into the top corner.

However, with nine minutes of added time - largely due to two lengthy VAR interventions that saw a United penalty overturned and a Fulham goal ruled out - there was still time for one final swing.

Sesko provided it, controlling a pass from Bruno Fernandes, turning sharply, and rifling a shot into the top corner to spark wild celebrations.

The win marked a notable milestone for Carrick, who has achieved three straight league victories in just three matches - something Ruben Amorim managed only once in 36 Premier League games in charge.

Serenaded by the Old Trafford crowd, Carrick watched his side climb back into the top four.

Carrick rolls back the years in classic United fashion

To truly understand this match, the final 10 minutes tell the full story.

By the 85th minute, United and their supporters believed the points were secure.

Casemiro had opened the scoring following a bizarre sequence.

United were initially awarded a penalty for a foul on Cunha by Jorge Cuenca, only for VAR to overturn the decision as the contact was deemed just outside the box.

Bruno Fernandes swung in the resulting free-kick, and Casemiro powered home a header.

The Brazilian midfielder then turned provider early in the second half, threading a precise pass through Fulham’s defence for Cunha to smash in United’s second.

Yet the long VAR delays _ including one that ruled out Cuenca’s second-half effort and drew chants against the technology from both sets of fans, as well as visible frustration from Fulham boss Marco Silva - set the stage for late drama.

Jiménez’s unusual penalty routine, marked by repeated pauses in his run-up, ended with a flawless finish.

When Kevin thundered home moments later, it appeared United had thrown victory away.

But with an old United favourite in the dugout, history repeated itself.

Late goals have long been part of the club’s identity, and Sesko embodied it perfectly - showing composure, strength and precision when it mattered most.

Fulham analysis: Transfer delays costing Silva

Fulham head toward deadline day with growing concerns, despite another standout display from playmaker Harry Wilson.

New signing Oscar Bobb, who arrived for £27m from Manchester City, is still awaiting his debut but could feature against Everton next weekend.

For Marco Silva, frustration is mounting.

While he has assembled a talented squad, repeated delays in transfer business may yet cost Fulham a push for European qualification.

Silva was visibly unhappy with the decision to disallow Cuenca’s goal, and while it is impossible to know how the match would have unfolded had Fulham scored earlier, the late drama ensured the controversy lingered.

Still, Fulham leave Old Trafford with moments to remember - not least Kevin’s stunning equaliser and Jiménez’s audacious penalty - even if the final outcome once again went against them.
