Southampton progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup after a dramatic extra-time victory over Leicester City at St Mary's Stadium.
The Saints took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Cyle Larin converted from the penalty spot, after Sam Edoziewas fouled in the area by Caleb Okoli.
Leicester responded early in the second half with a moment of brilliance, as Oliver Skipp produced an acrobatic overhead kick that crept in at the near post to level the tie.
The Foxes had gone close earlier when Stephy Mavididi saw an effort rebound towards goal, only for Ryan Manning to head clear off the line.
Southampton continued to press, with Kuryu Matsuki and Cameron Archer both denied as Leicester scrambled defensively.
With the tie still level after 90 minutes, the decisive moment came deep into extra time.
Manning delivered a free-kick to the back post, where substitute James Bree rose highest to head into the roof of the net and seal Southampton’s place in the next round.
The result deepens Leicester’s struggles, with the former winners slipping into the Championship relegation zone ahead of their return to league action, while Southampton move on with renewed confidence after a hard-fought cup success.
Southampton boss Tonda Eckert:
"I'm very pleased, today was a big day for the academy.
"It's a big day for the football club and just shows that we have a lot of talent coming up.
"We are making those steps to become a winning football team and that won't happen overnight but we are heading in the right direction to be able to win different games of football.
"The baseline is that we need to win and today we did that with a lot of energy and a lot of our young players on the pitch."
Leicester City interim boss Andy King:
"I'm pleased with the performance on the main and there were plenty of positives from the game like playing four teenagers who I thought went about things really well.
"They were very mature in their performance and stuck to the game plan which is how I wanted them to.
"But in key moments we have to be better, we have to be stronger with the challenge on the edge of the box with one minute to go before half time and then don't need to give the penalty away.
"We got oursleves back into the game and we just can't concede from a set play in added time but across the game I was pleased with the performance."
