Burnley snatched a dramatic 1-1 draw against 10-man Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, as Zian Flemming struck deep into stoppage time to stun the hosts.
Chelsea appeared in control for much of the contest after Joao Pedro bundled in Pedro Neto’s cross inside four minutes.
The Brazilian continued his fine form, registering his fifth league goal in six matches under manager Liam Rosenior.
The hosts dominated early on, with Cole Palmer going close and forcing multiple blocks, while Burnley’s only first-half threat saw Lesley Ugochukwu volley over from a corner after goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was penalised under the eight-second rule.
The turning point came in the 72nd minute when Wesley Fofana received a second yellow card for a challenge on James Ward-Prowse, having earlier been booked for a foul on Hannibal Mejbri.
Reduced to 10 men, Chelsea retreated, allowing Burnley to grow into the game.
Manager Scott Parker introduced fresh attacking options and momentum shifted.
Josh Laurent tested Sanchez before, in the 93rd minute, Ward-Prowse delivered a trademark corner that Flemming met with a powerful header to level the match.
Burnley nearly stole all three points moments later when substitute Jacob Bruun Larsen missed from a similar position, but the late equaliser was enough to secure a valuable point.
Chelsea, who have now dropped 17 points from winning positions at home this season and lead the league in red cards, were booed off at full-time.
While they move up to fourth in the table, their indiscipline once again proved costly.
For Burnley, still second bottom and eight points from safety, the draw highlighted their resilience.
Ward-Prowse’s set-piece quality and Flemming’s composure ensured Parker’s side left west London with renewed belief in their survival fight.
