Liverpool Faces a Tough Path to the 2026 Champions League Final

28 February 2026

The draw for the Round of 16 of the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League, held yesterday in Nyon, Switzerland, has pitted Liverpool against a list of formidable opponents.

The draw pitted the Reds against the tenacious Turkish side Galatasaray, who reached the Round of 16 via the play-offs, defeating the prestigious Italian club Juventus 7-5 on aggregate.

The match against Galatasaray presents a difficult test for Liverpool, requiring meticulous preparation. The knockout stages are unpredictable, demanding the utilization of every opportunity to secure passage to the next round. Based on the established tournament format, Liverpool faces a perilous path. Should they overcome the Turkish team in this round, they will face the winner of the match between fellow English side Chelsea and French club Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals.

If Liverpool reach the semi-finals, they will play against the winner of the match between Spanish giants Real Madrid and English giants Manchester City, and the winner of the match between Italian side Atalanta and German side Bayern Munich. The 2026 UEFA Champions League final will be held on May 30 in Budapest, Hungary.
