Erling Haaland emphasised that results matter more than performances after Manchester City secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Burnley to climb to the top of the Premier League table.
The Norwegian striker netted the decisive goal on Wednesday night, sealing all three points despite City dominating the game with 28 shots, including nine on target.
Speaking after the match, Haaland made it clear that winning—regardless of how it looks—is the priority at this stage of the season.
“We had a lot of chances but I’m happy, we won and that’s the most important thing,” he told Sky Sports. “It’s all about winning, no matter how. We try to play our football and we just try to win—that’s the mindset you need. Don’t think about goals, think about winning.”
The result sees Manchester City level on 70 points with Arsenal after 33 matches, with both sides boasting an identical goal difference of +37. However, Pep Guardiola’s side move ahead due to having scored three more goals than the Gunners.
With just five games remaining, the Premier League title race remains finely balanced.
City now turn their attention to FA Cup action, hosting Southampton in the semi-finals on Saturday. They then return to league duty with a clash against Everton on May 4.
