Bayern Munich Target Another Goal Fest Against PSG After Historic Nine-Goal Thriller

Bayern Munich are bracing for another high-scoring showdown when they host Paris Saint-Germain in next week’s Champions League semi-final second leg, following a record-breaking 5-4 defeat in France.

Tuesday’s first-leg clash produced nine goals — the highest ever in a Champions League semi-final — with Bayern showing resilience after falling 5-2 behind, scoring twice late on to keep the tie alive.

Head coach Vincent Kompany is expecting more fireworks at the Allianz Arena.

“More. Even more,” Kompany said when asked about the return leg. “We are at home, with 75,000 fans behind us. We don’t just want noise — we need a real wave of energy. This stadium has seen many great moments, and we believe in creating another.”

Bayern’s Firepower in Focus

Kompany’s side have been relentless in attack this season, rewriting records across competitions. Having already secured the Bundesliga title, Bayern have netted an astonishing 113 league goals with three matches still to play — surpassing the long-standing record of 101 set in the 1971/72 season.

Their attacking depth has also shone in Europe. For the first time in club history, three players — Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz — have each registered 10 or more goals and assists in a single Champions League campaign.

Kane continues to lead the charge, scoring his 13th Champions League goal in the first leg while also topping the Bundesliga scoring charts with 33 goals.

All to Play for in Munich

Despite conceding five goals in Paris, Bayern’s attacking threat keeps them firmly in contention.

“When you concede five in the Champions League, you’re usually out,” Kompany admitted. “But we scored four away from home. That shows what we’re capable of — and we’ll do it again at home.”

With a place in the final on the line and a German Cup final against VfB Stuttgart also looming on May 23, Bayern’s treble ambitions remain intact.

“We know the task: we must win at home,” Kompany added. “We’ve done it many times here. With our fans, the belief is strong.”
