For nearly nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr, has been performing his famous "Siuu" celebration. Speaking to reporters, Ronaldo revealed the story behind the celebration, saying, "It seems to have evolved into a global phenomenon in itself, and I love it when I see other players doing it, or when people send me videos of people in other sports or young children doing it. It's fantastic. It's very simple, but it carries a powerful meaning."
The Portuguese player had previously explained that the celebration came about spontaneously during a preseason friendly match in the United States against Chelsea. He said, "I started saying 'Yes' when I was at Real Madrid. We were in the United States and we played against Chelsea, and I don't know where this celebration came from."
He added, "I scored a goal, and it was natural. Since then, I've started repeating it a lot, and I feel that the fans react to it and chant it: 'Cristiano, Siuu!'"
He added: "It's a great feeling to be remembered for that, and that's why I'll continue to do it that way."
Ronaldo continues to make history, having reached his 970th career goal, further cementing his place as one of the greatest goalscorers in the history of the game.
