Uncertainty surrounds the participation of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe in the highly anticipated El Clásico against Barcelona next Sunday, in the 35th round of La Liga.
Mbappe will miss tomorrow's match against Espanyol due to a muscle injury. The "Defensa Central" network, citing "Le Parisien," reported that Mbappe's participation in El Clásico is now in doubt.
The report continued, "Kylian Mbappe is fully focused on being in top form for the World Cup next summer."
The Ballon d'Or Race
Real Madrid is going through a very difficult period, having nearly finished the season without any titles.
Real Madrid was eliminated from the Copa del Rey in the round of 16 and from the Champions League in the quarterfinals by Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid also lost the Spanish Super Cup final to Barcelona, who are very close to retaining their La Liga title. After scoring numerous goals without winning any titles with Real Madrid, Mbappé is now focused on having a stellar World Cup campaign to compete for the title and strive for the Ballon d'Or.
Mbappé has participated in only two World Cups, winning one and losing the final in the other.
