Garnacho Left Out as Chelsea Push for Permanent Transfer

Alejandro Garnacho has been left out of Chelsea's pre-season preparations as the club intensifies efforts to secure a permanent transfer for the Argentine winger this summer.

The Blues returned to training at Cobham on Thursday with players not involved in the World Cup, but the 21-year-old was notably absent, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho's omission comes after a disappointing debut campaign following his £40 million switch from Manchester United.

Despite signing a seven-year contract, he struggled to establish himself under Enzo Maresca before Liam Rosenior took charge, scoring just once in 24 Premier League appearances, 10 of which came from the bench.

Chelsea are understood to value Garnacho at around £43 million (€50 million) and are only prepared to sanction a permanent sale.

Although Roma have been linked with a loan move, the London club have no interest in that option.

Interest in Garnacho is growing, with clubs from the Premier League, across Europe and Saudi Arabia all monitoring his situation.

Discussions with several potential buyers are believed to be progressing, while Manchester United are set to receive 10% of any future transfer fee.

His expected departure forms part of Chelsea's wider squad overhaul under new manager Xabi Alonso.

The Blues have already strengthened by signing full-back Marco Palestra from Atalanta for £47 million and winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting for £40 million.

They have also generated significant funds through the departures of Marc Cucurella, who joined Real Madrid for £52 million, and Tyrique George, whose move to Everton could eventually be worth £24 million.

Chelsea remain active in the market as they pursue defensive reinforcements, with Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix among their leading targets.

Talks are also ongoing over a move for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria.

Further departures are anticipated before the transfer window closes, with Trevoh Chalobah's representatives exploring potential moves to Serie A sides Inter Milan and Como.

After finishing 10th in the Premier League last season, Chelsea are continuing preparations for their upcoming pre-season tour of Australia and Asia, where Alonso will begin shaping his squad for the new campaign.
