Celtic Close In on Record Signing of Kasper Hogh

Celtic are edging closer to completing the club-record signing of Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh, with manager Martin O'Neill confirming the Danish forward is expected to undergo a medical within the next 24 hours.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with the Scottish champions throughout the summer, with reports suggesting Celtic have agreed an £11 million deal with the Norwegian club.

Speaking after Celtic's 2-2 pre-season draw against AC Milan at Celtic Park, O'Neill expressed confidence that the transfer is nearing completion.

"I'm hoping it will happen," he said.

"I think there's a very good chance. Until everything is signed and sealed, there are always details that can change, but the move is certainly progressing."

When asked whether Hogh was set for a medical, the Celtic boss replied: "Yes, apparently so. I believe he'll have one within the next 24 hours."

Maeda Departure Increases Need for Reinforcements

The expected arrival of Hogh comes at an important time for Celtic following the departure of fan favourite Daizen Maeda, who completed a move to newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town earlier on Saturday.

Maeda leaves behind a significant void in Celtic's attack after playing a key role in the club's recent domestic success, making Hogh's arrival even more significant as Brendan Rodgers' side prepares for the new campaign.

More Signings Could Follow

Despite Maeda's exit, Celtic have made only one signing so far this summer, bringing in Colombian forward Camilo Duran, who has made an immediate impression by scoring three goals in three pre-season matches.

The Scottish champions have also been linked with Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur, although O'Neill remained tight-lipped about the possibility of another deal.

"I genuinely can't tell you about that at the moment," he said.

"I've been focused on preparing for this match. We'll see where things stand tomorrow.

"We do have a few other things in the pipeline that could come to fruition, and that would be great for us."

With Hogh's medical expected imminently and further transfer activity potentially on the horizon, Celtic appear set for a busy finish to the summer window as they strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
