Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement in principle regarding Ivorian star Yan Diomandé, following Paris Saint-Germain's surprise withdrawal from the race to sign the player in recent weeks.
French sources eported that PSG had previously reached a preliminary agreement with the player to finalize the deal, and the European champions of the last two years had appeared the most likely to secure his signature in recent weeks.
The reports claimed that the Parisian club's attempts to lower the transfer fee failed, bringing Yan Diomandé closer to a move to Real Madrid.
Adding that PSG refused to allocate a massive budget to sign Diomandé and rejected RB Leipzig's financial demands. Reports that PSG officials are deeply frustrated with the player's representatives, who changed their stance after an agreement had already been reached.
Diomandé (19) had joined Leipzig from the Spanish club Leganés for €20 million on a contract running until 2030, with no release clause.
The Ivorian international winger scored 12 goals and provided nine assists in the Bundesliga last season and also made a strong impression during his participation in the recent World Cup.
