Le Parisien newspaper revealed shocking details of a security operation that dismantled a gang planning a series of kidnappings and armed home invasions targeting 26 high-profile figures, including Kylian Mbappé.
According to the French newspaper, on August 21, 2026, judicial authorities in Nanterre charged an 18-year-old named Clément L. with "robbery as part of an organized gang." He is suspected of being the mastermind behind the network.
Although the young man is currently serving a prison sentence for previous serious crimes, the investigation revealed that he continued to manage the criminal operations and issue instructions to his accomplices from inside his cell, using the Snapchat messaging application.
The examination and analysis of data from two electronic devices seized by investigators inside the prison led to the discovery of a list containing 26 addresses belonging to wealthy and influential individuals.
The list included businessmen, traders, rappers, and footballers, with French national team captain Kylian Mbappé at the top.
A judicial source confirmed to the newspaper, "The accused was specifically planning to target rappers and footballer Kylian Mbappé."
The threads of this complex case began to unravel last April after a watch dealer's home in Neuilly-sur-Seine was targeted by individuals disguised as delivery workers. His shop was then robbed at gunpoint a few days later.
Following an intensive investigation, the anti-gang unit was able to track down and dismantle the network.
It emerged that the gang had carried out, or was planning, a series of break-ins and kidnappings between April 11 and August 19 in several areas, including Neuilly-sur-Seine, Saint-Bresse-sous-Forêt, and Saint-Tignes.
As a result, Clément was placed in strict solitary confinement, while his alleged accomplice was released on bail and placed under judicial supervision.
In this context, the public prosecutor stressed on Wednesday morning before the indictment chamber of the Versailles court the seriousness of the accused, saying: “This boy was already imprisoned for committing serious crimes, and now he is involved in a new case related to a rapper and a famous football player. Only solitary confinement will make him realize the magnitude of his actions.”
