Under the management of Jürgen Klopp, the German national team suffered a 1–0 defeat against Greece in the UEFA Nations League.
Despite the disappointing result, Klopp remained composed when discussing the match details; he avoided reacting emotionally and comforted striker Karim Adeyemi after the latter missed a clear-cut scoring opportunity.
Speaking after the match, Klopp said: "It was clear that we couldn't find a way to break down the Greek defense—I accept that—but finishing with this result, despite our persistent efforts, is unacceptable."
He added: "I agree with those who say we lacked sufficient quality in the match, but we weren't playing poorly enough to deserve a loss."
He continued: "Don't tear everything down; let the young players develop, and the team will improve over time."
Klopp took charge of Die Mannschaf after the German team had been eliminated in the Round of 32 of the last World Cup by Paraguay.
