Recent photos of Brazilian Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior have sparked a wave of debate and controversy on social media, with some users claiming the player appeared with new facial and body features. Observations regarding his appearance and tattoos quickly morphed into a bizarre conspiracy theory alleging that the real Vinícius had vanished and been replaced by a lookalike.
The story did not remain confined to social media; Spanish and Brazilian media outlets picked it up, while emphasizing the complete lack of evidence to support such claims. Vinícius appeared to respond to the rumor in his own way during Brazil's national team training session by revealing the tattoos on his leg—addressing one of the specific points cited by proponents of the "lookalike" theory.
This stir coincided with Vinícius appearing as usual with the Brazilian national team; he started the match against Australia yesterday (Tuesday), played 82 minutes, and scored a penalty, contributing to Brazil's 4–2 victory.
Vinícius also continues to feature for Real Madrid, despite a relatively modest start to the season—having scored one goal in eight appearances so far—while Carlo Ancelotti has affirmed his support for the player and called for patience.
