Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly has withdrawn from the England squad through injury and will miss the Three Lions’ final two Nations League matches of the international break.
The left-back played the full 90 minutes in England’s 3-2 defeat by Spain but was unavailable for Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic.
O’Reilly has now returned to Manchester City for further assessment and will miss Saturday’s trip to Croatia as well as the return fixture against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
England manager Thomas Tuchel does not plan to call up a replacement for the injured defender.
Lewis Hall stepped in for O’Reilly against the Czech Republic, with the Newcastle United full-back combining effectively with former Magpies team-mate Anthony Gordon on England’s left flank.
Hall could now be in line for further opportunities as England complete their Nations League schedule without O’Reilly.
