Plymouth Argyle moved to the top of League One with a 2-0 victory at Leyton Orient, thanks to quickfire second-half goals from Bim Pepple and Will Evans.
The win provided an immediate response to last week’s defeat by Burton, with Argyle taking control shortly after the interval.
Orient threatened early when Fin Stevens fired wide in the third minute. At the other end, Oliver Irow tested Nathan Baxter, who stretched to palm away his effort.
Neither side could find a breakthrough during a scrappy remainder of the first half, but Plymouth made their chances count after the restart.
Pepple opened the scoring in the 52nd minute following a scramble from a corner. Bradley Ibrahim sent the loose ball across goal, allowing the striker to poke home his fifth league goal of the season.
Evans soon doubled the advantage, meeting Ronan Curtis’ deep cross from the right with a header for his third goal of the campaign.
Orient searched for a response, with Stevens volleying straight at Murphy Cooper in the 68th minute, but Plymouth held firm to secure the points and take top spot.
