Mikel Arteta Signs New Arsenal Deal Until 2030 and Targets More Glory

Mikel Arteta has committed his long-term future to Arsenal, signing a new contract until 2030 after guiding the club back to the summit of English football.

The Spaniard's previous deal was due to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season, but his new agreement could see him remain at the Emirates for more than a decade.

Arsenal confirmed the extension on Wednesday, describing it as a reflection of the club's belief that recent progress and last season's success could mark the beginning of a special period.

Arteta has reportedly received a significant pay rise after leading Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years, ending a run of three successive runners-up finishes.

"It's a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal," Arteta said.

"This club is unique, its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue.

"We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together."

Arteta transforms Arsenal into champions

Arteta replaced Unai Emery in December 2019 and initially endured significant pressure as he attempted to rebuild Arsenal.

The former Gunners captain ultimately transformed the club into Premier League champions and is now the longest-serving manager in the division following Pep Guardiola's departure from Manchester City.

Arsenal also reached their first Champions League final in two decades last season, although their hopes of European glory were ended by Paris Saint-Germain in a penalty shootout.

Arteta has taken charge of 361 matches across all competitions, recording a win percentage of just over 62%, the highest of any full-time manager in Arsenal's history.

Arsenal target more trophies under Arteta

Despite last season's success, Arsenal have work to do in the current Premier League campaign.

The champions sit second in the table, three points behind leaders Manchester City following a surprise 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break.

Club co-chairs Stan and Josh Kroenke believe Arteta remains the right man to lead Arsenal into the next phase of their development.

"It has been an incredible journey so far and we are excited for what lies ahead in this special relationship," they said.

"Last season was an incredible moment in Arsenal's history, a moment in which we created memories that will last a lifetime. We're determined to create many more in the years ahead.

"We share a special bond with Mikel. We are so proud of everything we have achieved since he returned to the club in 2019."

With his future now secured until 2030, Arteta can turn his attention towards building on Arsenal's Premier League triumph and challenging for further domestic and European honours.

The Gunners return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Leeds at the Emirates Stadium.
