Ronaldo is one step away from overtaking Hamdallah!

October 13

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese captain of Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr, is now just one goal away from becoming the club's all-time leading scorer in continental competitions, having equaled the record previously held by Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah.

Ronaldo scored during Al-Nassr's 3–1 victory over Uzbekistan's Neftchi on Monday evening—part of the second round of the AFC Champions League Elite's West Zone group stage—bringing his tally to 16 goals for the team in Asian competitions and tying Hamdallah at the top of the list.

"El Don" opened his scoring account in the current edition of the tournament, having previously netted six goals in the 2023–2024 AFC Champions League and eight in the following campaign—along with one goal in the AFC Champions League 2—before adding his latest strike against the Uzbek side.

The Portuguese star now needs just one more goal to surpass Hamdallah and claim sole possession of the record for the most goals scored by an Al-Nassr player in continental competitions—a new milestone to add to his impressive record with the Saudi club.

Brazilian player Anderson Talisca, formerly of Al-Nassr, ranks third on the list with 11 goals—five behind Ronaldo and Hamdallah.

Al-Nassr secured a crucial victory over Neftchi; Angelo opened the scoring and Ronaldo extended the lead. Although the Uzbek side narrowed the gap in the second half, an own goal ultimately sealed the win for the hosts.

This victory provided a boost for Al-Nassr following their 4–0 defeat to the UAE’s Al-Ain in the opening round.
