Getafe Submit Formal Offer to Sign Former Manchester United Winger Jadon Sancho

Getafe have made a formal offer to sign former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, with the Spanish club hoping to secure the 26-year-old England international on a free transfer.

Sancho has been without a club since his Manchester United contract expired in the summer and has been assessing several options as he looks to revive his career.

Although negotiations are expected to be complicated, Getafe remain determined to reach an agreement. The La Liga side currently sit 14th in the Spanish top flight and are competing in the Europa Conference League this season.

Sancho, who joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund for £73m in 2021, is reportedly keen on a move abroad but has not ruled out remaining in England.

Getafe have already strengthened their squad with the arrival of former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal, who joined on a free transfer earlier this week.

The 34-year-old Spain international left Real Madrid when his contract expired in June, bringing an end to a trophy-laden spell that included 27 major honours and six Champions League titles. Carvajal has signed a contract with Getafe until June 2027.

Sancho spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 39 appearances as Unai Emery's side secured Champions League qualification and won the Europa League.

The winger featured as a late substitute in Villa's European final victory over Freiburg, marking his third European final appearance in three consecutive seasons.

During his five years at Manchester United, Sancho also completed loan spells with Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

His 2024-25 loan move to Chelsea included an obligation to buy, but the London club ultimately paid a £5m penalty to return him to Old Trafford after 41 appearances.

While searching for his next club, Sancho has continued sharing training footage on Instagram to demonstrate his fitness.

He recently trained with non-league side Flixton, prompting speculation about his future. However, the North West Counties club clarified that the former England international was not undergoing a trial.

With Getafe now making a formal approach, Sancho could be offered an opportunity to rebuild his career in Spanish football as discussions over his next move continue.
