“I very much hope to achieve something like this.”
Bayern Munich star Harry Kane took the opportunity to send a strong message, after his exceptional performance against Arsenal, in the Champions League.
A few days before the 2026 Ballon d'Or awards ceremony, the English striker no longer hides his intense anticipation, and confirms his position as one of the most prominent candidates to win the grand prize.
After the exciting match that ended in a 2-2 draw, in which Harry Kane was the first star, the Bavarian striker, who scored 10 goals and made 7 assists in 11 matches in all competitions, was asked about the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or next Monday, and he did not hide his impatience.
He said, according to the “Statsroom” website: “I certainly appreciate every message I receive, and every support from all the fans, Bayern Munich fans, England fans, and Tottenham fans. Obviously, Monday night could be a special night.”
While he tries to focus on his team's upcoming matches, the Briton admits that the uncertainty is weighing on him, especially his loved ones: "I know it's an important event, so I'm looking forward to it. I think my wife would rather know the result, and my family is very nervous."
Kane continued: “I understand their desire to remain silent so that all the stars can attend, but from my point of view, of course I would like to know the result without having to wait all evening! There is nothing I can do but enjoy this moment.”
Harry Kane is humble
The excitement was palpable, which the England captain shared with CBS Sports, revealing his biggest dream live to legend Thierry Henry.
While speculation abounds about the identity of the potential winner, Harry Kane prefers to be humble, while acknowledging the importance of this award: “It will be amazing. The result? I don’t know. I know there are a lot of rumors circulating at the moment, but I don’t know.”
He continued: "Obviously, I very much hope to achieve something like this. It will be a huge step in my career, that's for sure."
But to win the prestigious award, Kane will face very tough competition, and while the English striker is exceptionally impressive, other world-class players are real contenders for this prestigious individual award.
Barcelona's rising star Lamine Yamal, Paris Saint-Germain's Hvicha Kvaratskhelia, the experienced Rodri and Fabian Ruiz are still in the running.
Not to mention the distinguished French group that includes Ousmane Dembélé, Kylian Mbappe, and Michael Olise.
