Enciso Stunner Earns Ipswich Hull Draw

Julio Enciso rescued a point for Ipswich with a spectacular late equaliser in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Hull.

The Paraguay international blasted a left-footed effort into the top corner from 20 yards in the 74th minute, denying the hosts their first victory since August.

Florentino Luis had given Ipswich a deserved first-half lead, but Hull recovered after the break through goals from Tim Iroegbunam and Oli McBurnie before Enciso struck.

The result extended Hull’s winless sequence to seven Premier League matches and eight games across all competitions.

However, Sergej Jakirovic’s side have suffered only two league defeats and remain in the top half, ahead of Ipswich on goal difference.

Gary O’Neil’s visitors controlled the opening half and made their superiority count when Abdoul Ouattara beat his marker before releasing Florentino, who hammered a powerful finish inside the near post.

Ipswich thought they had added a second when Enciso headed in from a corner, but the effort was disallowed for a foul on McBurnie.

That reprieve proved significant as Hull emerged with renewed purpose after the interval.

Shortly before the hour, McBurnie played Iroegbunam through behind the defence.

Given ample space to advance into the penalty area, the midfielder fired past Christian Walton to register his first Premier League goal.

McBurnie completed the turnaround 10 minutes later, driving a low free-kick into the bottom-right corner from just outside the box.

Walton may feel he should have done more to keep it out.

Hull’s advantage lasted just six minutes.

With the home crowd lifted by their side’s recovery, Enciso silenced them with an emphatic strike that secured Ipswich a share of the points.

Both Sides Left With Regrets

Both promoted clubs now have 11 points from nine matches, a respectable return that leaves them comfortably in mid-table for the moment.

Nevertheless, each side had reason to view this as a missed opportunity.

Ipswich’s frustration will centre on their failure to build a commanding lead during a dominant first half.

Sharper decisions in the final third and more clinical finishing could have put the match beyond Hull’s reach.

For the hosts, an ineffective opening 45 minutes left them chasing the game.

Having recovered to take the lead, their inability to protect it brought further disappointment.

Hull’s steady accumulation of points has softened the impact of their winless run, but the need for a victory will become more pressing if that sequence continues.

Both teams can take encouragement from fighting back after falling behind.

Whether this proves a valuable point or a costly missed chance will become clearer as their campaigns unfold.
