Will the Traits of a Champion Return?

AC Milan is looking to strengthen its management structure in preparation for the next phase by bringing in one of the most prominent figures to have made an impact on German football in recent years. This move could prove to be a significant addition to the Italian club’s project, though its completion remains contingent upon reaching a financial agreement with the other party.

According to German media reports, the potential move of former Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche to AC Milan has gained serious momentum. Both clubs have entered into negotiations, though a final agreement has yet to be reached as discussions regarding the financial terms of the deal continue.

Eintracht Frankfurt relieved Krösche of his duties as sporting director on October 18, following a tenure of approximately five and a half years. However, his contract was not formally terminated; the 46-year-old remains under contract with the club until 2028.

Reports indicate that, as part of the terms surrounding his departure from his role, Krösche secured a clause allowing him to move to another club. This means that any team wishing to sign him before the summer of 2027 would be required to pay a fee—estimated between 5 and 7 million euros—unless both parties agree to different financial arrangements.

It is expected that Krösche would take on a similar role, heading the football operations at AC Milan. January 1, 2027, has been floated as a potential start date, coinciding with the opening of the winter transfer window, although negotiations have not yet reached their final stages. Eintracht Frankfurt Secures Successor to Krösche

Eintracht Frankfurt has finalized the search for a successor to Krösche, reaching an agreement to appoint Foti Chatzialexiou—formerly an official at Nürnberg—as the club’s new sporting director.

The 49-year-old is set to officially begin his duties on February 1, 2027, though an earlier start remains possible as discussions between the involved parties continue.

Chatzialexiou will sign a contract with Frankfurt running until 2030. His move from Nürnberg will cost approximately €500,000, facilitated by a release clause in his previous contract.
